Anda Popescu

My name is Anda Popescu, I am from a small town called Moreni, in Romania. We here have over 500 stray dogs and although we have been spaying for six years now, using our own limited funds, the situation is pretty much the same; this is because irresponsible pet owners are always throwing unwanted puppies on the streets. This year, Romanian Animal Rescue came through for us and spayedeutered 120 dogs in Moreni. This was a huge help for us, because we had no money left and puppies were born every day just so they would die horrible deaths. I am a 29 year-old woman and in the last 10 years I saw more horrors than anyone should ever have to experience in a lifetime. In Romania, puppies die of parvovirus and distemper, long, painful deaths, they are run over by cars, they are thrown away when they are infants and left to starve, they endure hunger and cold, they are tortured by evil people. So, the fact that RAR helped us to save so many unborn puppies from these terrible ordeals means the world to us. We are also happy because spayed or neutered dogs are more gentle and people aren't so afraid of dogs anymore. People, even those who don't love animals, see that their town is more peaceful and they don't have to see dead puppies on the street. Moreni is forever grateful to you, RAR donors, you are in our prayers everyday. I think that nowadays it is a good business that only for a few dollars, so many people wish you well and so many dogs are saved from being born only to die. Thank you, RAR donors and Nancy Janes, you are our angels!

Some people in this World have such a sense of caring, they go where nobody else will to help and as a result, from some people who do not understand their passion, they experience indifference at the least and derision at the worst. Yet they prevail, eliminating suffering and remind us all to be more human. To my dear friend Nancy, I could not be happier or more proud of what you have accomplished. I know how hard you have worked and the level of commitment in time and money you have devoted to save those dogs.

Claudiu Iosim

Animed Arad, Arad "My name is Claudiu and run a small, local animal welfare charity in Arad, Romania. It's been brought to my attention that certain lies have been sent your way regarding Nany Janes of Romania Animal Rescue. "Please know that in the past few years we've been working together to fix and rescue strays in my community. As far as I've seen here and at her home in the US, Nancy and her husbands are two people with great hearts and high moral values. They are both trying to find new ways to support Romanian charities on a daily basis. "There are so many things I can write to you to show you how great Nancy is, but since you already know her I'm sure I don't have to :) Enough to say that my charity and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her."

Otilia Pana

Animal Life, Sibiu "First let me introduce myself. I'm Otilia Pana, member of Animal Life Sibiu, am 28 years old and working as a Buyer within Continental Automotive Systems. "We have been working with RAR and Nancy for more than two years now. We got the chance to meet Nancy at the first spayeuter campaign she has organized in Sibiu, to help our street dogs and us. We were not able to sponsor a campaign that big so Nancy was kind enough to give us a chance, meet us, see our shelter and decide to work together with us. She has accepted each of us with all our strange habits, has loved all our dogs and the ones she has met on the street. She is a wonderful person and has helped the dogs of Sibiu and our organization a lot. I know if it wasn't for Nancy, we wouldn't have managed to spay and neuter more than 200 animals in the last two years. She has helped us a lot and we think she is amazing, her work is amazing. I just wish I could grow up being like her."

Andreea Roseti

Animal Life, Sibiu "We have had tremendous help from RAR and from Nancy in particular. Just to name a few: She sustained our spayeuter campaigns in a time when no one in Sibiu has ever heard of something like that. The doctors send by RAR have taught our vets how to operate, because previously they used ancient methods so that the animals need 2 to 3 days to recover. Thanks to her we could attend the International Animal Welfare Conference in Stressa and the World Woof Tour, which was a great opportunity to find new friends and organizations to adopt our dogs. And these are just to name a few of what RAR did for Animal Life."

Cenac Vasile

Galati, Romania "My name is Cenac Vasile, I am 59 years old and I take care of a shelter which is belonging to the authorities from Galati, Romania. I work here since I retired from a career of engineer at an iron-and-steel factory, 7 years ago. I love animals and first of all I love all 250 dogs that I'm taking care of at the shelter. "I assure you that the dogs wouldn't be alive today if I didn't encountered a fairy, that helped me and she gave me money to buy food and medicines and other small but essential things so that all 250 dogs may live. I assure you that I don't know another person so kind and gentle like our guardian angel, Nancy Janes and her husband."

Ioana Drasoveanu

Cluj/Napoca, Romania "My name is Ioana Drasoveanu, and I live in Cluj, Romania. I know Nancy Janes for some years now and I can say she's been one of us, the animal lovers, giving us hope and courage. Nancy fought for us and tried to solve problems that were almost impossible, when times were hard for us (when almost all the international organizations had turned their back towards us, showing distrust and contempt). "She made a superhuman effort to obtain money for the dogs in shelters, for the spayeuter campaigns and for the dogs transfer to countries which are kinder than Romania to them. I am sure that all these meant, for Nancy, sleepless nights, hard moments of maximum discouragement. Still, she never gave up, she never let us resign. These are the reasons why I love her, I respect her."

Raluca Simion

Group Initiative for Animals - GIA Bucharest, Romania "I respect Nancy for all her dedication and involvement with dogs in Romania: She supported spay and neuter campaigns in many cities (Sibiu, Galati, Bucharest, etc), she helped a lot of animals to find a new home or to live a better life in Romania (paralyzed Billy from Minis got a wheel chair from Nancy and I saw that cute dog, so happy to be able to run) and these are only some examples. "I should tell you that I represent a different NGO from Romania, I am not part of RAR but I love working with Nancy in any occasion that we have, because I know that she is a person who really wants to improve dogs' lives."

AnnaBell Washburn

Founder of P>A>W>S> of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, and a living legend in the practice of Trap/Neuter/Release "Through all my years of dealing with animal problems, I have never been more stricken than I am by the plight of the stray dogs of Romania. And I can't praise Nancy Janes highly enough for taking on the overwhelming task of helping these pathetic animals. I support the efforts of Romania Animal Rescue, Inc. with my whole heart and will do anything I can to assist in their efforts."

Judy Johns

Director of Development and Public Relations,The Latham Foundation for the Promotion of Humane Education "Romania Animal Rescue, Inc. is a perfect example of Margaret Mead's reminder to 'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.' In less than two years they have helped establish one of the best shelters in Eastern Europe and through it have helped countless dogs and cats while promoting awareness that animal well-being enhances human well-being. Theirs is truly an inspiring success story."

Olympia Estrella

"Romania Animal Rescue and Mrs. Janes are legitimate, hardworking, caring and devoted to helping with the animal problem in Romania. I spent some time in Romania (I have two street cats found in Romania of my own), and I can attest to the fact that the problem with stray dogs and cats in Romania is severe.... I ask you to please be supportive and helpful to Romania Animal Rescue, as Mrs. Janes and all the caring people that volunteer and donate resources, through RAR, to this cause are truly interested in helping the animals. There is no political agenda, financial profiting or any nonsense. This is a legitimate effective non-profit organization. Mrs. Janes has single-handedly saved hundreds of animals."
