Goals for 2007
Our primary goal for 2007 is to spay/neuter at least 1500 dogs and cats in Galati. We would like to hire 3 more vets to work with Dr. Gheorghita, as well as purchase an animal ambulance to allow people to call for an animal emergency pick-up.
Dr. Bachman has offered to go to Romania in September, 2007, to train local vets. Dr. Karter Neal has also generously offered to go to Romania for RAR in September to train vets and perform spay/neuter surgeries.
RAR is working with other Romanian animal groups to try to encourage people to keep their animals indoors. This involves teaching compassionate care, such as house-training for animals, the importance and availability of
low-cost parasite treatment, and how to yard train a dog. Also, the importance of keeping animals enclosed in the winter and hydrated in the summer.
We are fortunate to have found outstanding veterinarians who will work with us in Romania. With your financial support, or donation of veterinary surgical supplies and instruments, you can help a nation that is struggling to take care of its animals.
Since 2004, RAR has funded the spay/neuter of over 4000 cats
and dogs in Romania. Financial support of altruistic foundations and
individuals made these surgeries possible. We publicize donors, who supply the funding for 10 or more spay/neuters
($300+) in Galati, on our Plaque of Gratitude on display in Dr. Ileana's
clinic.
RAR has teamed up with
GiftBack.com
and Rescue Pet
Store . Both of these online stores give a 10% donation to RAR when you buy
gifts or pet needs through these links. Bookmark these links, and use them

Accomplishments for 2006
In 2006, RAR was able to spay/neuter approximately 800 dogs and cats in Galati, and over 200 in Arad, Romania. RAR sent our veterinarian, Dr. Gheorghita, to the Mayhew Animal Home for training in
2006. We were honored to be chosen by the Humane Society's Rural Animal Veterinary Services Program for their training program in 2004, whereby they sent Dr. Jen Scarlett and her team to Romania to train our vet. Dr. Jeanne Olson, veterinarian from Alaska, graciously offered her services by training our vet and spaying/neutering numerous animals in April and May of 2006. In addition, we were fortunate to have Dr. Richard Bachman and Dr. Barb Jones, both from California, offer their valuable time to go and train vets in Romania in May and June of 2006. The Romania Animal Rescue appears in the documentary, "Rag's to Riches--A Dog's Life", set for release in the near future by Schnuffie Productions. RAR has also arranged for other animal charities in Romania to be able to use Paypal for donations via the Internet.
Statistics
Dr. Ileana has given me the latest report of the spay/neuter surgeries. Thanks to the
support of generous donors, these animals will live a happier, healthier life and will not have to witness their offspring suffering.

November, 2006
Dear All,
This year we have fixed 500 animals (cats and dogs, males and females).
200 of those 500 surgeries were sponsored by Nancy Janes and RAR.
She also gave us suture material, very important books, trapping equipment
for dogs and feral cats and surgical instruments.
Besides that she has spent a lot of money trying to donate surgical
instruments and 50,000 defleaing viols for dogs.
Nancy also sponsored my trip to the International Companion Animal Welfare
Conference held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, at the end of last month. Thanks
to her I have made new contacts and received even more equipment from Snip
Int., ACES and some food for cats and dogs from Arden Grange.
She recently opened a PayPal account for us and put some money into it as
well.
I also know about her involvement in Galati and the wonderful work that
she does there, together with Dr. Ileana Gheorghita. And yes, she doesn't
work with Dana anymore.
Having said that, I am happy to have her working hard on behalf on the
abused and abandoned dogs and cats in Romania. Please send her thank you
notes for this and express your gratitude as well.
Yours truly,
Claudiu Iosim
Animed Arad, Romania
