  • Cluj-Napoca
  • Buzau; and

JUNE

Paws for Peace -- Puppy Summit

Date: Thursday, June 21
Location: Helen Woodward Animal Center, 6461 El Apajo Road Rancho Santa Fe, CA (Get Directions)

Details: (Summary of the summit)

Here at Helen Woodward Animal Center our only goal on Wednesday evening will be to get the puppies out of the van and into their kennels with fresh water, food, and snuggly blankets so they can get some well-deserved sleep.

On Thursday morning, June 21 we plan to schedule a news conference to announce the first "Paws for Peace--Puppy Summit".

At that time we will welcome the Snagov Puppies to the USA.

We will also announce that the "Lucky 13" puppies from Arkansas are becoming available for adoption that day. (These are 13 puppies that I mentioned to Nancy earlier. They were transported to San Diego by an Arkansas puppy mill operator. The man was arrested and the puppies were distributed to several animal shelters and rescue groups. It's been a big story here in San Diego and will be a great tie-in with your pups!)

Also, we are expecting about 45 dogs from Mississippi to also arrive that day. These dogs and puppies are part of the "Katrina Wave" of orphaned pets that are still resulting from Hurricane Katrina. They came from a disaster area but now they're "Walkin' on Sunshine".

The "Paws for Peace--Puppy Summit" will bring all of these little "Ambassadors" together in a safe place. There will be no prejudice. No language barriers. No politics. No disagreements. Our goal for the Puppy Summit will be that each orphaned pet is placed in a loving, lifelong home where it will receive the protection and care it deserves for the rest of its life.
