Thank You! Dr. Bachman's Trip Has Been Fully Funded!

RAR sends vets to Romania twice a year to teach local vets modern spay/neuter techniques. Each trip costs about $6000 for the airfare, veterinary supplies and surgical equipment. Your generosity has provided the funds needed to send Dr. Bachman to Romania in May. Thank you!

Help Us

Romania Animal Rescue, Inc., a United States 501(c)3, was founded in 2003 by 3 people from the San Francisco area, following an eye-opening hiking tour in the country of Romania. RAR's mission is to establish animal welfare in the country of Romania. We currently have set up a spay/neuter program, free to the public, for any dog or cat in Romania, and have supplied major funding for the building and upkeep of an animal shelter. READ MORE...

Did you know?

RAR offers free spay/neuter and veterinary care for the 'street strays' in Galati and the surrounding areas (population 380,000 humans - approximately 14,000 dogs, number of cats unknown). Animal caregivers bring in their beloved street dogs and cats for sterilization, vaccination, and parasite treatments, at no cost. These animals then return to the caregiver and to their previous location where most are fed - but now they are sterile and cannot reproduce. Dr. Ileana offers these services free to impoverished citizens, but she even offers low-cost spay/neuter for the citizens who can afford it.

When 80% of the street animals are sterilized, we will have achieved zero population growth.
