Dear Nancy,
Because you are my inspiration, I am sending you this letter. My name is Olimpia, and 9 months ago on my previous visit to Bucharest I fed 12 dogs during my 5 week visit. It happened while I was going to the market in Pta. Matache approx 400 meters from Pta Victoriei. In front of a derelict house I noticed this skinny dog in the street. It looked like she was breastfeeding.
I went and bought some chicken necks and returned in 10 minutes, but could not see the dog. I asked at the nearby little shop. I was told to open an iron gate. In front of me were seven puppies and three dogs eating some chicken fingers. My chicken necks where swallowed in seconds. The following day I started cooking for them, but it was only a week left before I had to return to Sydney, so I asked a man to take care of them for me.
The Spayathons in April have brought our spay / neuter procedure funding to over 8400! Our goal is to focus the funding of spay / neuter procedures on Bucharest, Hateg, Giurgiu, Tecuci and Cluj / Napoca, Romania. We are also seeking sponsorships so we can spay / neuter more strays.
