Message from Olimpia

I later returned to Romania in June. The next morning after I arrived I went to the house where the dogs had been, and was told that the dogs were no longer there. They were at the back of the houses where there was about 200 sq. meters of land full of garbage. It happened that one day while feeding the dogs one of the little puppies was bitten. He started screaming and limping. I decided to take him to a vet where I was told that the leg is broken. I took him home waiting for a miracle and decided to go in the street or parks in order to meet people.

It was on a Sunday afternoon on my way to a park walking on Calea Victoriei two men approached. I noticed they where foreigners. One smiled at the puppy with the bandaged leg. I turned as they passed by and asked in English if he wanted the dog. I explained that in a few days I had to return to Australia and could not take care of them. He picked up the dog and told me that back home in Germany he had lost two dogs in the last few months. He answered that he wanted to take him but he was flying home on Tuesday. He gave me his card and telephone number and I promised to take care of all of the arrangements that Monday. I asked my friends for help and Tuesday morning we went to the hotel with the puppy to take them to the airport. We received news they arrived safely but three days later the dog become sick. He was taken to a vet and recovered in three days. I told my friends that when he took the puppy in his arms and I looked in his eyes I knew he was a animal lover.

After this event I had the pleasure to meet Dr. Aurelian. He come to my place and agreed to walk with me to the place where I was feeding the dogs. He also took some photos while I was surrounded by them. He wanted to find out who owned the land in order to ask permission to enter that land with the mobile clinic. I put him in contact with Gaby, the Samaritan who was feeding the dogs. On the way back Dr Aurelian helped me take home from the street a poor starving cat. She settled down very fast and it was a pleasure watching her relaxing on my bed--a completely different cat from when I first found her in the street. I was waiting again for a miracle. but I only had 3 days, and decided to call my travel agent to postpone my returning date.

Again my friends helped me to find someone to adopt her. It was such a relief to find out about the perfect conditions. A few days ago I sent an email to ask how the cat is settling, and received an answer the following day. She was sleeping, eating, and sitting on everybody's lap. I told them how much I appreciated the news. I don't remember to ever be proud of myself as I feel now. And I am convinced you are too. GOD BLESS YOU. Sending you love from Sydney. Olimpia
