Why Spay/Neuter Is Vital for the Animals

Play Slideshow

These photos are of some puppies living in a hole near a trash dump in Bucharest. Olimpia Marina took Dr. Aurelian Stefan and Nancy Janes there. The whole area is going to be cleared out and a new development will go there. We are going to spay/neuter the dogs in the dump in early June. As for the puppies there is no place for them to go.

Tecuci 1000

Romania Animal Rescue has spayed/neutered over 1000 animals in Tecuci, Romania. With the help of our friends from Holland, all procedures were free of charge to the people of Tecuci!

In Other Tomita News
We will be setting up an elementary school educational program in Tecuci in September. The program will teach school children about animal welfare, the benefits of spay/neuter, and how to take care of their pets.

Association Tomita is looking to purchase a used car so they can transport dogs from the villages surrounding Tecuci to the monthly spayathons. The people in the area are very happy to have our program, but many of them cannot transport their animals to the clinic where the spay/neuter events are held.

Craiova Spayathon

In total the Craiova Spayathon spayed/neutered 1400 animals; 150 cats and the rest were dogs, 98% of whom were females! Romania Animal Rescue has now spayed/neutered over 11,500 animals in Romania free of charge to the people, thanks to the generosity of our donors!

Rory and Nancy Janes met with the Mayor of Craiova and he has asked RAR to start an in-school educational program there! This is great news for Craiova, and to have an agreement with the Mayor is icing on the cake! We are seeking sponsorships for starting an educational program next September in both Craiova and Tecuci.

Craiova Puppies

These motherless pups were abandoned in Craiova and brought to the Spayathon. Luckily the wonderful Carol Byers of Animal Care - Austria was there to commit to adopting them out! They will stay at the GIA adoption center in Bucharest while they get their passports to travel!
