About Us

The Problem

Stray dogs and cats wander the streets of Romania, searching for food and shelter. Cars hit many of them. They all risk poisoning, illness and starvation. Those animals placed in shelters are fed scraps, if they are lucky.

Our Solution

Romania Animal Rescue, Inc. (RAR) has established the first free spay/neuter program for the impoverished people of Romania. RAR's Trap/Neuter/Release program enables animal caregivers to bring in their cats and dogs to be treated for parasites, vaccinated, and neutered at no cost. RAR returns them to the caregiver and to their previous location. They no longer contribute to overpopulation.

Accomplishments

RAR has become quite a force in Romania, having funded more than 8600 spay/neuter procedures! In addition, our US veterinary program has trained 22 vets and students in Romania.

Success Stories

Thank you to Best Friends Animal Society, Virginia Wildlife Services, ROMP, Lynn Milam, Dr. Richard Bachman, Dave Benanzini, Keith Tyler, Helen Woodward Animal Center, Dr, Jeanne Olson, Janice Giampaoli, Bonnie Siddons, Gael Deppert, and so many others for sending RAR supplies for Romania. Our success depends directly on the funding we receive from individual and corporate donors, members, volunteers, and their families.

Veterinarians

Meet the veterinarians who help spay/neuter the homeless dogs in Romania. Not only do they help reduce the overpopulation of strays roaming the streets of villages in Romania, but they also educate other veterinarians in modern spay/neuter techniques.
