Paws for Peace--Puppy Summit

Dear Romania Animal Rescue Friends,

The 12 puppies from Snagov Forest and I just arrived in Los Angeles a couple nights ago. Here is a wonderful bit of new news for you!! See photos of the summit.

Quote from John Van Zante, Helen Woodward Animal Center:

"On Thursday morning, June 21 we plan to schedule a news conference to announce the first 'Paws for Peace--Puppy Summit'.

At that time we will welcome the Snagov Puppies to the USA...
The 'Paws for Peace--Puppy Summit' will bring all of these little 'Ambassadors' together in a safe place. There will be no prejudice. No language barriers. No politics. No disagreements. Our goal for the Puppy Summit will be that each orphaned pet is placed in a loving, lifelong home where it will receive the protection and care it deserves for the rest of its life."

--John Van Zante

Thanks to the work of:

Frances Conroy:
The wonderful woman who alerted RAR to the suffering of the dogs and puppies at Snagov Forest, and met me, with the puppies, at LAX to help with their handling to Helen Woodward Animal Center. Also, thank you to Francis Battista of Best Friends Animal Society for supplying volunteers to meet with me and the puppies after our long flight from Romania! The puppies were allowed to play in a yard, eat and drink before their ride to Rancho Santa Fe.
Robert Smith of FPCC, Romania:
Who rescued the suffering dogs and their puppies. FPCC in Campina, Romania, sterilized the dogs from Snagov Forest, and asked RAR to arrange a way to get the puppies out of the country. RAR was fortunate to find a great rescue in the United States, and Robert Smith paid for the flight of the puppies and their caretaker (me!) to go to Los Angeles.
Helen Woodward Animal Center:
This wonderful organization located in Rancho Santa Fe is helping not only the Romanian puppies with this "Paws for Peace - Puppy Summit", but also puppies from Arkansas and Katrina pups. http://www.animalcenter.org
Aura Maratas of Daisy Hope Foundation, Romania:
Aura arranged for the logistics with the Romanian authorities to have these puppies sent to the USA--not an easy task!!!

Thank you to A J, Andrew and AnnaBell who allowed us to purchase crates to bring to Romania for this important mission. Thank you to Jolene and Hopalong Rescue for lending us crates in the USA for this mission. Thank you to Christy for the donation of a crate for Dr. Ileana for our spay/neuter mission in Galati, Romania.

More information from my trip will be coming shortly!

Lots of love and thanks to all of you for helping the animals in Romania.

Sincerely,
Nancy Janes
