Stray Dogs in Braila

Ticu

Ticu was an 8-year-old dog with no human companion. He was hit by a car. I found out about him after 3 weeks from the accident, I took him to a friend's house (Maria), washed him, cut his hair and gave him treatment. He was paralysed from half to the tale, he could walk, couldn't urinate or defecate when he wanted. He had a broken leg that already healed viciously. We took care of him for 2 weeks but then we had no choice but to euthanaise him, because we didn't find anyone willing to adopt a handicapped dog.

Chocolatte

Chocolatte was living around the block of flats of my friend Maria. She was taken by ASA (Asociatia pentru Supravehgerea Animalelor) and Maria saved her, she got Chocolatte out. But while she was in ASA's shelter, she got distemper, a viral disease that can be fatal. They don't vaccinate except for rabies and most of the dogs get sick while being there; in fact, most of the dogs who come from ASA have this disease if they were not vaccinated before.

Chocolatte fought the virus for 2 weeks, we treated her and she is ok now. She adapted pretty difficult to living indoor, but at least she is alive.

Ironically, ASA is now changing it's name into ASPA, Asociatia pentru Supravegherea si Protectia Animalelor--The Association for Monitoring and Protection of Animals.
