Romania Is Dog Hell

The following photos chronicle the state of animals in Romania. Although some of these photos are graphic, we have included them to document their living conditions. We believe that allowing millions of unwanted animals to be born into a world of suffering, poisoning and neglect is wrong. We have the capabilities to stop this crisis, and now so does Romania! Please visit our Help Us section for ways to help these animals.

Ion

These photos are of baby Ion, from Campina Romania, in 2004. Ion is now living with us in Livermore, along with Stefan, Mihai, and Ana Marie, all from Romania as well.

Dr. Ileana's Story

My name is "Little Tail". I’m one of the thousands of unwanted dogs from the city of Galati, and the situation I’m in proves it.

I live in a shelter where a very nice guy takes care of us, Mr. Cenac. He had to leave today for a few hours, for a family problem, and some other dogs that don’t like me did this to me. I’m one of the dogs that don’t like to fight with anybody and this happened to me before, maybe you remember when I had wounds all over my body.

Dr. Ileana took care of me until I could get on my feet. She kept me there for few days and then I was sent back to Mr. Cenac. Today again I was unlucky: They tore the skin off my head and I ended up once more in Dr. Ileana’s care. Slowly she put me back together and made me look like a dog again. I lost my ear but what can I do, I have no choice.

Thank you for your concern and your help. If it wasn’t for you to pay for my medical bills I could of not been saved.

This is my niece.

She had a car accident and she got wounded. She needs help to heal and then will need to be sterilized. Please don’t abandon us, for you are our only hope. Help us from multiplying and roaming the streets, and becoming victims.

With a thousand thanks, "Little Tail".
