Jilava

Jilava is a town just outside of Bucharest. These dogs live in a make-shift shelter right next to a dump. RAR is planning to spay/neuter all dogs in this shelter with the help and donated time of Dr. Stefan Aurelian, as soon as funding permits. We will also be working on adopting these dogs out of the crisis situation. These dogs are to be relocated to another piece of land as soon as possible. Jilava needs funding for these animals welfare.

One of the photos in this section shows animal lover Elena holding a dog in a cage from the Jilava shelter. The dog needed to have an eye removed by Dr. Bachman.

Sibiu

These dogs are sheltered outside of Sibiu.

Dr. Bachman in Sibiu

Dr. Bachman (in the green shirt), with the assistance of vet tech Dave, spays a dog in Sibiu. Dr. Bachman visited three clinics in Sibiu to train vets in modern spay/neuter procedures. Dr. Bachman performed 100 spay/neuter operations to vets in Romania, and provided supplies for the trained vets to perform 200 more operations themselves!

The dog with the bad eye was brought to the Buzau shelter with mange, a skin infection, a gauged out eye, and a broken leg. We discovered this old dog and decided his value of life was simply nonexistent. Since he was in terrible pain, Dave euthanized him. The other dogs are shown recovering from various operations.

Buzau

Cristina Peterson comforts these dogs at the Buzau shelter. The kitten now lives happily with Cristina's mother in Buzau.

These puppies were dumped at the Buzau shelter. They were too young to be weaned. The last photo shows RAR cofounder, Nancy Janes, bottle feeding one of the puppies.

Rescue

These photos show two of the seven puppies that were rescued and brought to Marin Humane Society for adoption.
