RAR Helps Nuca
Hello all,
My name is Ioana Drasoveanu and I am a member of the "Nuca" organization, in Cluj (Romania).
Last year our organization was just starting its activity and it was very difficult for us. We wrote to all
of the big organizations we knew, asking for help. We were given only formal answers, not involving ones. The only person who
committed herself was Nancy. She opened an account for us in America and introduced us to some wonderful people (Lynne de Lano and her husband, Jim). They obtained a $5000 grant for us. That's how we could neuter 100 dogs and help many others. It may seem a small achievement to you, but it is enormous for us. We are very much blamed and little encouraged. To make you understand: I feed some stray dogs only after dark, or else I am admonished by the passers by.
Yours respectfully,
Ioana Drasoveanu
Rescue Harsova
A missionary from Harsova, Romania, contacted RAR about 7 dogs that needed
sterilization, and 16 puppies that needed to find homes. There is a bounty on
dogs' ears in the city of Harsova--citizens are encouraged to kill the dogs,
cut off their ears, and bring them to the city for a reward. We knew we had to
help if we could.
Thanks to some wonderful donors, RAR was able to bring all 16 puppies from
Harsova to California!
Helping Those Who Help the Strays
Dr. Olson has trained 18 vets and students in Romania during her 3 week
teaching/sterilization course in Romania for RAR. These vets and veterinary
students will in turn train others in Romania on how to perform modern sterilization and surgical procedures. RAR would like to thank Dr. Olson with
all our hearts for her help!
Spay/Neuter Procedures Reach for 4000
Since 2004, RAR has funded over 4000 spay/neuter procedures.
That's breaks down to more than 3 procedures every weekday! We couldn't have
done it without the help from Dr. Ileana and other veterinarians, and from
the generous donations from foundations, other organizations, and from
people like you. See Dr. Ileana's totals for this
year.

Romanian Refugee in Search of Prime Doghouse

Successful Rescue: Anna Marie
Against all odds, Anna Marie was rescued by RAR founder, Nancy Janes. A
car had struck the puppy in Romania, leaving her partially paralyzed with
a broken spine.
Nancy transported the puppy back to her ranch in California, and fitted
her with a "wheel chair" that supports the dog’s hind legs.
It took Anna Marie a couple of weeks to get used to the device and
build up strength in her front legs to move around. Now she can run
and play with the other dogs at the ranch.

Testimonials
Romania Animal Rescue and Mrs. Janes are legitimate, hardworking, caring and devoted to helping with the animal problem in Romania. I spent some time in Romania (I have two street cats found in Romania of my own), and I can attest to the fact that the problem with stray dogs and cats in Romania is severe.... I ask you to please be supportive and helpful to Romania Animal Rescue, as Mrs. Janes and all the caring people that volunteer and donate resources, through RAR, to this cause are truly interested in helping the animals.
There is no political agenda, financial profiting or any nonsense. This is a legitimate
effective non-profit organization. Mrs. Janes has single-handedly saved hundreds of animals.
--Olympia Estrella "Romania Animal Rescue, Inc. is a perfect example of Margaret Mead's
reminder to, 'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens
can change the world.' In less than two years they have helped establish one
of the best shelters in Eastern Europe and through it have helped countless dogs
and cats while promoting awareness that animal well-being enhances human
well-being. Theirs is truly an inspiring success story."

Foundation for the Promotion of Humane Education
"Through all my years of dealing with animal problems, I have never been more
stricken than I am by the plight of the stray dogs of Romania. And I can't
praise Nancy Janes highly enough for taking on the overwhelming task of helping
these pathetic animals. I support the efforts of Romania Animal Rescue, Inc.
with my whole heart and will do anything I can to assist in their efforts"
